Bree is a perfectly adjusted conservative transsexual woman. Born Stanley, a genetic male, she's about to take the final step to becoming the woman Stanley always wanted to be -- until she finds out that she is the parent of a long-lost 17-year-old son. Afraid to tell the rebellious teenager the truth, Bree embarks on a journey with him that will challenge and change both their lives and bring them closer to the truth of their connection.

Well this film is almost entirely held together by the strength of Felicity Huffman's performance as Bree. Though the rest of the film is quite good, she steals the show, and manages to turn what is at time a sort of average plot into a fantastic film about life and pursuit of happiness. taking place over about a week as well, it would seem easy if the plot was terribly rushed and if the character development was so compacted that one left as if they had seen a life on fast forward, but director Duncan Tucker manages to walk that line between believability and story well enough to keep you engaged, while in the realm of the believable.
Kevin Zegers is also wonderful as Bree's son and the two of them form a really sweet relationship by the end of the film.
i recommend it to everyone who like me missed it way back in 2005.
